Are you an expert track driver or licensed racer craving laid-back
track time, and lots of it? Then our SPOTE days are for you!
NEXT SUMMIT POINT OPEN TRACK ELITE:
4 hour (pm) SUNDAY MARCH 9, 2025 – CLICK HERE!
Summit Point Open Track Elite is our updated version of a familiar format – the classic “private test day.” SPOTEs are offered exclusively on Summit Point Motorsports Park’s thrilling 2-mile, 10-turn main circuit with a simple schedule and a relaxed pace. For our full day format: show up, breeze through registration & tech inspection, attend a quick meeting, drive on track all morning, take a break for lunch, then drive again all afternoon. Go on and off and back on track as you please for 8 hours of scheduled track time. Or for our half day format: show up, breeze through registration & tech inspection, attend a quick meeting, then go on and off and back on track as you please for 4 hours of scheduled track time. Co-drivers and private coaches are welcome, as are multiple cars per driver. Entries will be strictly capped to not overcrowd the track. Point-bys are mandatory in the morning while everyone warms up. Think of a SPOTE like your very own private test day – but with a much lower cost of entry and more friends (both old and new) to have fun with. Can you think of a better way to spend a day (or half day) at the track?
DRIVER ELIGIBILITY
For safety reasons and to help guarantee quality track time, SPOTEs are only open to drivers with significant and extensive high speed road course driving experience – for example:
-currently licensed and experienced roadracers from IMSA, NASA, BMWCCA, PCA, SCCA,
and equivalent organizations
-advanced/expert solo HPDE drivers, licensed time trialers, and certified instructors from NASA, BMWCCA, PCA, SCCA, TrackDaze, Chin, and equivalent groups
-drivers cleared for advanced solo and above with Summit’s FATT or Seat Time programs (must have significant “passing anywhere” experience)
Before registering, drivers should apply to participate by submitting a copy of their competition license and/or a detailed track driving resume to Jon Felton. All drivers must have 20+ verifiable days of on-track experience with wheel to wheel racing or advanced level open passing or at least significant HPDE time on track passing anywhere with a point-by. Expired and novice/rookie licenses will be considered on a case-by-case basis as part of a driver’s total history. We are only interested in sharing our pavement with experienced, safe, aware, responsible, respectful drivers!
VEHICLE ELIGIBILITY
Also for safety reasons and to help guarantee quality track time, SPOTEs are only open to:
-most closed-wheel currently or very recently logbooked racecars from IMSA, NASA, SCCA, BMWCCA, PCA, and equivalent organizations
-most closed-wheel production based cars that will pass a standard HPDE technical inspection, click here for the form.
If there is any question about the legality of your car or eligibility of your driver, please inquire with Jon Felton before registering.

Eligibility: All participants must be at least 18 years old with a valid drivers license.
Tech Inspection: click here for the form you complete and submit to self-tech your car. It is the responsibility of the participant to assure safe mechanical condition of the vehicle at all times. It is strongly recommended that vehicles be thoroughly and routinely inspected by a reputable technician beforehand. Refunds or credits will not be available for cars that fail tech.
Convertibles: Rollbars are required unless the car is factory equipped with rollover protection, and it must state such in the manual. Drivers must bring manual and present it at tech. Mazda MX5/Miata, Honda S2000, and Dodge Viper convertibles (among others) all need 4 point roll bars added. All convertibles should pass a “broomstick test” as well. Please inquire before registering if you have any question about the legality of your convertible. Sorry no refunds or credits if you register and/or show up with a convertible that doesn’t pass tech.
Helmets: Must have Snell SA2015 or newer rating and be in good condition.
Coaches/Passengers: Are allowed (age 18+ only) after lunch as long as they have a helmet and the same level of safety/protection as the driver. Passengers must keep hands and arms inside the car, and handheld recording devices may not be used. There is no charge for passengers, but they must come see us for a special wristband.
Co-Drivers: Co-drivers are fine at SPOTEs for a small fee but they must register themselves with the same car and be cleared just like any other driver.
Weather: These events will take place “Rain or Shine, Hot or Cold” but may be rescheduled or paused for more significant weather.
Cancellation: All sales final – no cancellation, refund, or credit. An entry is transferrable to another person for that event only and must be done by 48 hours in advance.
Waiting List: If you register as a Waiting List entry because the event is already full, we will email you by 24 hours prior if we have a spot for you. If not, that entry will automatically be applied to the next SPOTE.
